My Story...

I’ve been playing by someone else’s playbook for a long time now.

I started out at art school — dreaming of being an executive in the music and film industries. I wanted to create, to lead, to build something that mattered. And for a few years, I did. I chased that dream hard.

Then I became a mom.

The world told me that if I wanted to be a “good mom,” I needed a stable, consistent career. So I did what so many ambitious women do — I put the creative parts of me away. I stepped into corporate life. I hustled to prove I could do it all — solo parenting, working two jobs to make ends meet, studying at night.

I got my BS in management. Then marketing. Then an MBA. I built a 20-year career climbing ladders, managing teams, leading strategies. I became the glue that held it all together — at work, at home — but somewhere along the way, I forgot who the f** I was.*

Then, on a family vacation, I took my kids to see the art school I’d once loved. It all came flooding back. I looked around that campus — and remembered the part of me I’d buried to fit someone else’s mold.

I came home from that trip with a fire I hadn’t felt in decades. I remembered who TISA is. What TISA wants. Not what the world says I should want.

And I decided:
I’m not living by someone else’s playbook anymore.
